THE PRODUCT

SiPahias is a trash bank application that will provide trash exchange services into points that can be exchanged for interesting things and goods. Work on this project is motivated by the desire of IT Del to increase awareness and desire of the local society, especially ITDel students to maintain environmental cleanliness by providing services in the form of exchanging trash for something more valuable, where the thrash will be processed or thrown into the right landfill. The purpose of this project is to increase the desire of the community, especially students, to collect garbage instead of throwing it away carelessly and maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the environment around IT Del.

THE PROBLEM

There is still a lot of garbage scattered around the IT Del environment, and there are still many students who throw garbage carelessly and leave trash scattered.

THE GOAL

Design a waste management application that aims to reduce the amount of waste and improve the quality of waste management, especially in IT Del

REQUIREMENT GATHERING

PERSONA

To obtain the requirements needed in the application development, the requirement gathering interview method is used with the appointed client to provide information on system requirements from all sides, such as requirements regarding technical matters related to prospective users and requirements regarding matters related to waste management and partners.

COMPETITIVE AUDIT

I Identified the competitors and analyzed their business strategies to determine their strengths and weaknesses relatives to this trash bank app.

IDEATION

After conducting requirements gathering, competitive audit and brainstorming, we conducted ideation and got the following results:

  • In this application, every user (trash exchanger) who exchanges waste will receive rewards in the form of goods and points that can be exchanged into coupons.

  • Waste that can be exchanged is organic waste such as electronic waste, plastic waste, glass waste, paper, and others. The trash that is exchanged has different points according to the type of trash.

  • The features in this application include the delivery and pick-up feature, and the exchange of trash. Waste exchangers can deliver their waste directly to the Collection Agent (CA). CA is a temporary garbage dump that is guarded by the admin, CA is located at several points in IT Del. Garbage in CA will then be collected at the Collection Center (CC) as the final waste disposal site.

  • Before the waste is disposed of, the waste processing will be carried out first. Garbage that can still be used will be separated and the admin will create a preloved event. Waste that is still fit for use will be donated or given to those who need it more. However, for waste that is not suitable for use, such as plastic and paper waste, it will be given to partners who can process waste.

DESIGN

SKETCH

Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points.

WIREFRAME

Moving from paper to digital wireframes made it easy to understand how the redesign could help address user pain points and improve the user experience.

HIGH - FIDELITY PROTOTYPE

EVALUATION AND ITERATION

EVALUATION

Evaluation is carried out to ensure that the system is built in accordance with the requirements that have been defined at the beginning of the system design. In this stage, system testing is carried out to determine whether the system meets user needs and can support all business and user scenarios. User Acceptance Test is also carried out so that changes aim to validate changes that were made against original requirements could be validated.

ITERATION

After evaluation is carried out, several problems are still experienced by users when performing the given task. Client also provide criticism and suggestions that can be applied when carrying out the next iteration. This is done so that users get a better experience when using the system.
